What is a hero? Who do you think is a hero? We think the five-time world, three-time Olympic gold medalist, Jamacian Track and Field runner, Usain Bolt, is indeed a hero. Usain Bolt is fast, determined, and competitive. One reason we said Usain was a hero is because he's fast...that's self explanatory, he set world records, and achieved past his own hero's records. Bolt is also a hero because he's determined. The average track and field runner may be good at what he or she does, but it definitely takes a lot of determination to become what Usain has become. Last but not least, Usain is a hero because of how competitive he is. In every sport you have to have a certain level of competitiveness, but we feel like Bolt is on a more serious level of competition.

Usain Bolt, aka "Lighting Bolt", is the fastest man in the world. He is a 6'5 Jamaican. Usain was born in Kingston, Jamaica on August 21, 1986. He ran the 100m in 9.58s That is about the length of a football field in under ten seconds. He ran the 150m race in 14.35s, the 200m in 19.19 and the 400 in 42.28 seconds. He also has won 23 gold medals and won 8 silver medals.

Everyone has heroes or icons and Usain's heroes are Herb Mckenley, Don Quarrie, and Michael Johnson. They were all runners. Herb is a Jamaican 100m and 200m world record holder. Michael Johnson former 200m world and Olympic record holder, and Don Quarrie did have the record for the 200m, then in 2007 Usain broke the record and holds it today.

Usain Bolt is a hero to us because of his faith, devotion to his family, and skill as a track athlete. Usain became the first junior sprinter to run the 200 m in less than 20 seconds with a time of 19.93. He is an inspiration to young people all around the world because he proves that they can do anything they dream of. We can learn from Usain Bolt - he grew up in a small impoverished town and grew up to be one of the fastest men on the planet. He teaches us that anyone is capable of anything as long as you have dedication.

In conclusion, Usain Bolt built a great career by putting his mind to one thing and focusing on it every day. Throughout his career he has won many medals and and set world records. Just like everyone else, Usain had his mind set because of inspirations like Don Quarrie and Michael Johnson.
