Vicente "Chente" Fernandez Gomez is a Mexican singer, actor, and Film producer born February 17, 1940. Chente was born and raised in Huentitan Del Alto, Jalisco, Mexico. Vicente has worked since his childhood to maintain himself and his poor family. Vicente started his career singing for tips on the street and really got started when he won a Guadalajara singing contest.
At age 21 he has in a show called "La Calandria Musical" where he received his first payment for singing. He earned 35 pesos and his ranchera music has become the most popular in Latin America and Spain. He has also has gotten the nickname El Rey de la Cancion Ranchera (THE King of Ranchera Music) throughout the Hispanosphere.
