Ville Valo was born on November 22nd 1976 in Vallila, Finland. His parents loved music, so as he grew up, he naturally also loved music. He also grew up with one sister and one brother, Mige and Linde. Some of his idols include Gene Simmons, Edgar Allen Poe, Rauli Somerjoki, and Clint Eastwood.
His Infernal Majesty more commonly know as H.I.M. is Ville Valo's famous band. The band has been through several members who ended up leaving Ville and the band. Finally, he got a permanent and complete band of 5 people. A guitarist, a pianist, a bassist, a drummer, and of course a singer. The members of this band are Ville, Mika Karppinen Gas, Janne Puurtinen a.k.a. Burton, Mikko Lindstrom a.k.a. Linde, and Mikko Paananen a.k.a. Mige.
Ville Valo is the writer of his songs, and his lyrics are very strong. Some people don't like H.I.M. not because they've heard them, but because the name itself. His Infernal Majesty is associated with the Devil and "Razorblade Romance" and "Your Sweet 666" don't sound too appropriate. But if you listen to the words in his songs you will understand the true meanings behind the seemingly demonic titles. For example, an excerpt from the song "Your Sweet 666" is "I'm waiting for your call and I'm ready to take your sweet six six six into my heart...my heart" meaning that he loves someone so much that he is willing to take all the evil of that person into himself in order to make that person pure. It is totally a love song, but because of the title, people would never guess. Another example of a misunderstanding regarding a song and title is the song "Stigmata Diaboli": "Spill your tears onto me I will lift the burden from your shoulder so you just have to believe I'm your Christ I'm killing myself but you want more." Again, he is saying that he is willing to sacrifice for the good of someone he loves. All of his songs are about good vs evil, and love. Unfortunately, it would take up way to much space to put all of his amazing lyrics here, so if you want to check them out, go to www.sing365.com and go to H.I.M.
To me, Ville Valo is my hero. He is an talented musician who stuck with his dream even though he's gone through quite a few bands, and even more musicians. His deep and hypnotizing voice, and his poetic lyrics along with the accompaniment of beautiful music just makes H.I.M. a band that I respect and admire. Ville Valo is just an incredible person, who writes incredible music himself, so how can someone not admire him?
