Jeanette Rankin, the United States' first woman congresswoman speaks to a crowd in Montana. Elected as a Republican in 1916, Rankin would make peace the thrust of her life, gaining national attention when she voted against participating in World War I. Rankin would go on to lead the International Women's League of Peace and Freedom and to lead marches protesting the Vietnam War in her late 80s.
