Warren Buffett

by Way from Xiamen

Normally, a businessman usually only gets a lot of money and gets rich, rich, rich, but Warren Buffett was a whole different story. He cared about the community around him and never forgot the importance to give back to those that accepted him and cared about him in his childhood.

When Warren Buffett was young, he was raised in a normal family, not too rich and not too poor. Despite the comfortable and suitable enviorment around him, he still decided to earn more money for himself. Now that is a very special action because people like you and I don't go around our village and sell sodas, gum and weekly magazines. One of his most early successful investments was buying a pinball machine and placing it in a local barber shop. Within months, he owned several of them in several barber shops. We all know that Warren Buffet started getting rich while investing stocks, so what happened? Was that just a rumor? No, sir! At the age of eleven, he bought three shares of the "Cities Services" stock for $38 dollars per share. The stock dropped down to $27 per share but he didn't let go of his stocks. He held on and sold his stocks for $40 per share. Later, he regreted his actions when the stock grew to $200 per share. That taught him the lesson of patience.

Later in Buffett's life, he became the richest man in the world, in 2008, beating Bill Gates, who won 11 years in a row. Everone agrees that Warren Buffet's most succesful invesment was buying a major part of Coca Cola shares. In his life, he married two people and had a total of 3 children in his life. His children didn't get spoiled like how most rich people spoil their children, but even got successful themselves!

Warren Buffet has donated billions of dollars to many foundations in the world, and most of his money has gone to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. When he dies, he has agreed to give almost 95% of his savings to the Foundation, which is about 55 billion dollars.

I feel that Warren Buffet is a hero because he has proved two very important things to me. Even when you get rich, you don't have to lose humanity and be a rich bragger, but also give back to the community around him. He has also proved to me that children all are good and the most important thing is how good the parents treat their children. After reading about him, he has taught me the importance of always staying humble and always remembering the importance of making others lives better.
