Wendy Crist

by CJ from Palermo

Mrs. Wendy Crist is a teacher at Helen Wilcox in the Palermo Union School District. I had her as a third grade teacher and she is my hero.

When I was in her class, I did not know that I had ADD, nor did my parents. ADD is a learning disability that causes one to be distracted and unfocused. Anyway, Wendy Crist is my hero because she tested me for ADD. Because of her, I am taking medication that helps me focus. If I had not met her, I would have been retained. She has been a big blessing in my life, and I am glad to have met her.

I am now in sixth grade in Palermo school. I have not been retained, and I am in the GATE program. GATE is for kids that scored well on their state test. And I am very happy where I am now.

Mrs. Crist is still a teacher and still helping kids. Watching kids figure out a problem motivates her. Her hobbies are sewing and quilting. She also enjoys classical music.

Mrs. Wendy Crist has taught me to lend out a helping hand by never giving up on me. I show it by being a good person to others; I help them when they need it. I also do my work in class and show respect for my teachers by being quiet.
