Walter E. Diemer

by Allie from Ansonia

‘’Pop’’ That’s the sound of bubblegum, the wonderful invention made by Walter Diemer. Walt had an exotic early life, awesome accomplishments and the strength to make a difference in my life. Let’s get chewing! Thanks to Walter.

Walt pretty much lived a normal life until the day he invented bubblegum. He was first born on January 8, 1904 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Walter had two kids a son and a daughter and two wives Adelaide and Florence, Walter liked to double things up! Later, on in life he worked at Fleer Company, for a living as an accountant. Working at Fleer was a hard job because he never made his dreams come true. But suddenly, one day working Walter had made a soft batch of gum and then bubblegum was accidentally created. Walt did not patent his invention which I don’t know why he wouldn’t. After, his discovery he became senior vice president of the Fleer Company. Mr. Diemer is American and is known for inventing and developing bubblegum. Do you understand the process of Walter E Diemer’s exciting life?

This inventor made some astonishing accomplishments! The biggest achievement has to be the beautiful, wonderful BUBBLEGUM! Even though bubblegum was an accident it turned out to be one of the best candy/food in the world. He succeeded in this achievement because he put his effort in when problems came up. Another accomplishment is making it all the way up to senior vice president in Fleer Company. For example, he finally made his own dreams come true while working at Fleer Company. Playing with gum recipes during his free time instead of fooling around really paid off. These were the awesome, astonishing achievements in Walter E Diemer’s Life.

Walt is a hero to me because he had the strength and ability to make a difference in my and other’s lives. Did you ever want something to chew on, what's the word I’m looking for, ‘’bubblegum’’. Walter Diemer saved everyone for when we have these ‘’need bubblegum" moments, Walt is a hero to me because he had the strength and ability to make a difference in my and other’s lives. People all over the world including me, chew bubblegum whether it’s for flavor, force of habit or anything, really. Some people have bubble blowing contests, even tournaments. I remember the time I won that bubblegum contest; my bubble was the size of my head. All the kids and I had so much fun doing that, Walter changed kids lives of all ages around the world, he made a difference. I personally love his invention, ’’Double Bubblegum’’; I eat it all the time. His invention was a delicious accident.

‘’I’ve done something with my life; I’ve made kids happy around the world’’, that’s what Walter said. Sadly, on January 9, 1998 Walter died a day after his 94th birthday, caused by congestive heart failure. But he had a great early life, wonderful achievements and made a difference in kids' lives. We will remember him!
