Walter Elias Disney is an inspirational hero who was multitalented and lived a highly successful life.  He is an inspiration because he followed his passion and never stopped trying to reach success. Walter Disney was on born December 5, 1901. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and was the youngest of five children. His father Elias Disney was a peripatetic carpenter, farmer, and building contractor. Walter's mother, Flora Call, worked as a public school teacher. Disney went to Kansas City in 1919, where he found temporary employment as a draftsman in addition to working as an inker for commercial art studios. Here he met Ub Iwerks, a young artist whose talents contributed greatly to Walt's early success.  After learning the rudiments of animation at a subsequent job at the Kansas City Film Ad Service, Disney began to produce his own animated films, and in 1922 he formed Laugh-O-Gram Films. Years after his death, Disney remains the central figure in the history of animation. He transformed a minor studio into an industry giant.  A role model must possess courage, be inspirational, and multitalented.  Walt Disney is contains those attributes and he isn't afraid to follow his dreams, resulting in being someone to look up to.

Walt Disney is an icon because he was multitalented in the media arts and film production. Disney worked in various jobs before his heart determined his passion. "Moving to Kansas City, Disney went through an assortment of jobs as a commercial artist and cartoonist, his work leading to an enthusiastic interest in filmed cartoons." (DiMeglio). Walt Disney Was not only talented at drawing but excelled in multimedia film making as well. Disney could show stories through vivid characters and mystical themes that people all over the world still enjoy today.  Walt Disney is one of the greatest cartoonists that ever lived, "American motion-picture and television producer and showman, famous as a pioneer of animated cartoon films and as the creator of such cartoon characters as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. He also planned and built Disneyland, a huge amusement park that opened near Los Angeles in 1955, and before his death he had begun building a second such park, Walt Disney World, near Orlando, Florida. The Disney Company he founded has become one of the world's largest entertainment conglomerates." (Walt Disney biography). Additionally, he made people laugh, cry, and to this day, still enjoying his work. His movies are still being watched and remade all over the world. The messages his movies portray connect with emotions of everyone who watches. Disney's various talents are what kept the Disney franchise intact and growing. 

Another factor making Disney a hero is he is inspirational by following his dreams and never giving up. His dreams all started when he discovered he enjoyed drawing on his farm. "Back in Missouri in the early 1900's there lived a farm boy who discovered that he had a knack for drawing barnyard animals. As an adult, he began to put his animals into cartoons, and he became convinced that he could entertain people by telling stories about a little creature with a high voice, red trousers, and yellow shoes and white gloves." (DiMeglio).

 Walter grew up like any other ordinary young boy with a dream of making people laugh and enjoy his cartoons and drawings. He was inspired by everything around him and believed the funniest things in life were 'human' animals.  Never giving up was his goal and to do what he loves most in the world. Disney's talents are also the reason why he became so successful. "Disney's imagination and energy, his whimsical humor, and his gift for being attuned to the vagaries of popular taste inspired him to develop well-loved amusements for "children of all ages" throughout the world. Although some criticized his frequently saccharine subject matter and accused him of creating a virtual stylistic monopoly in American animation that discouraged experimentation, there is no denying his path breaking accomplishments. His achievement as a creator of entertainment for an almost unlimited public and as a highly ingenious merchandiser of his wares can rightly be compared to the most successful industrialists in history." Walt Disney was an extraordinarily talented man and because of his passion for film making he excelled in life with a successful career.  Criticism to Disney's work did not stop him, but gave him courage to strive forward. Walt Disney is an inspiration because he did what most cannot do, he achieved his dreams. Not only did his dreams come true, but he created a name that will last for years.

Walt Disney is a hero to those who have a dream and wish to fulfill that dream. He inspires me and everyone to try new activities and do what you love because being proud of what you accomplish in your life makes you happy. Do not put your efforts into something that doesn't make you joyful and complete you. Disney inspires people that dreams do come true and to believe in themselves every single day.
