Walt Disney was an academy award winning film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. I chose Walt because not only are his movies great, but he also is an inspiration to everyone. And he created one of the most memorable characters, Mickey Mouse. He was brave to try new ideas and he refused to give up, no matter how bad things where.

Walt Disney was born in December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. His mother was Flora Call Disney, who was of German-American decent and his father, Elias Disney, who was of Irish-Canadian decent. He lived in Marceline for 4 years until he and his family moved to Kansas City in 1910. Afterward his father acquired shares in the O-Zell jelly factory in Chicago, so they moved there.

Walt not only influenced animation and entertainment as a whole, he also funded a school. He funded the California Institute of the Arts and when he died 1/4 of his estate went to them, helping the school develop its campus. He won 26 academy awards, as well as the presidential Medal of Freedom and many other awards.

Walt Disney was one of the greatest people who ever lived. He has influenced many and helped others. He created some of the most well-known cartoon characters to this day, and he was been awarded for his creativity. He tried new things and succeeded well, and he is my hero.
