Walt Disney was a passionate, confident and persevering man that wanted to make motion pictures for the whole world to enjoy. And make one of the best theme parks ever built in America.
Walt has always been passionate for drawing cartoons. He started to sell his cartoons at the age of seven. He would go door to door selling the cartoons to people. Then when he was 16 he lied about his age and joined the Red Cross in World War I and drove an ambulance. The ambulance was filled with tons of cartoon sketches that he made. When he returned from the war he moved to Hollywood with only some cartoon sketches and 40 dollars to live with his brother Roy O. Disney and uncle. There in Hollywood he and his brother made their first motion picture behind a real estate building two blocks away from their uncle's house. One day the owner of a theater in New York City asked if they would play a motion picture. They gladly accepted and made Steamboat Willie, the first motion picture with sound. Steamboat Willie was an instant success. He really liked to draw cartoons and produce movies.
Walt and Roy then went on to become very confident and made their first full length film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This movie was one of their greatest feats of their career. Walter went on to make many more motion pictures such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo and Bambi to name just a few. Disney then opened his own studio called Burbank Studios. He hired more than 1,000 people mostly soldiers just getting back from World War II. The Burbank Studio was one of the reasons that inspired him to create Disneyland. More than 17 million dollars were put into making Disneyland. It also kept more than 250 million people entertained. He was very successful at making cartoon motion pictures.
After a while Disney's business lost popularity so he came up with Oswald and the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald and the Lucky Rabbit were a success too. But then M.J Winkler and Charles Minz stole the rights to the character and also took all of his animators from his company. Walt fought back. On a train he was doodling and then came out with Mickey Mouse. Mickey became an instant success also. After he made Fantasia the cartoonists went on strike, but that didn't stop Walt. He then went on to make Peter Pan, Treasure Island and Lady and the Tramp. This shows that no matter what, he didn't give up.
