Walt Disney

by Haram from Saipan

Try to imagine a world without Walt Disney. He did more to touch the hearts, minds, and emotions of millions of Americans than any other person in the past century. He is enthusiastic, imaginative, and optimistic. He is a legend, my hero of the 20th century, Walt Disney.

Walt Disney is my hero because he is enthusiastic. He will do anything to entertain his friends, family and strangers. Walt entertained his friends by imitating his silent screen hero, Charlie Chaplin. He would also tell his classmates stories and draw illustrators on the chalk board. On November 18, 1928, Walt made the world’s 1st synchronized cartoon at the colony theater in New York. It was called Steamboat Willie.

Walt Disney could take the dreams of America and make them come true with his imagination. When Walt was young he would sell small sketches and drawings to neighbors. He drew pictures of animals and nature for the sketches he sold. In the fall of 1918, Disney attempted to enlist in the military. But he got rejected because he was under age. So he joined the Red Cross overseas in France and spent a year driving an ambulance. His ambulance was covered from front to back not with stock camouflage but with Disney Characters.

Walt Disney’s mission was to make life more enjoyable with fun and optimism. He dreamed of a clean and organized amusement park, and it came true in 1995. Walt Disney’s Park has entertained over 200 million people, including kings, queens, and royalty from all over the globe. Disney began television production in 1954, and was among the first to present full-color programming with his Wonderful World of Color in 1961. The Mickey Mouse Club was a popular favorite in the 1950s. Walt created more animation and all his work brought joy and happiness to people of every nation.

It was Walt’s enthusiasm and faith in himself that took him to the top of Hollywood. Through his work he brought enthusiasm, imagination and, optimism to people of every nation. He brought us closer to the future, and it is certain that there will never be such a creative man, as Walt Disney.
