My hero is Wayne Gretzky. He was born in 1961 in Brantford, Ontario. Wayne Gretzky started playing hockey when he was age 5. When he went to the tryouts, he didn't make it on a team. But when he was ten, he made it on a team. In one season in peewee hockey in Brantford, he scored 378 goals. His nickname was the white tornado because his gloves were white.

He broke a lot of records. He was a good star. He scored 51 goals a year. He played hockey from 1978 to 1999.

Gretzky played for the Edmonton Oilers, L.A. Kings, New York Rangers and the St. Louis Blues. Wayne scored a lot of goals and he believes everyone can score. He makes me want to take a chance.

Wayne Gretzky was a great hockey player and inspired me play to hockey. Because of Wayne Gretzky, I try harder.
