Wilf Harrison

by Ryan from Bradford

Always be yourself no matter the situation or circumstance.

Wilf Harrison was a paratrooper in the Second World War. He was my best friend and my grampa. I will tell you every thing I know about him.

Grandpa with his 14 siblings
Grandpa with his 14 siblings

My grampa was born in Toronto on June 1921. He went to St. Patrick School in Toronto but he only went to grade 6. He was pulled out of school to be put to work as a grocery delivery boy and his family members are his wife his 3 sons and his 3 daughters. He must have had a tough life and here is a interesting fact from his youth. He came from a family of 15. Wow, that is a lot of children.

My grampa had to overcome a lot of obstacles on his life like going to World War 2. Also he came from a family of 15. If you think that is bad enough also there was never enough food to eat or coal to heat the house, and they were abandoned by the dad.

He survived World War 2 and he achieved victory from the war and he was always confident that he would make it through the bad. He also never gave up and to top that he also went through life with a grade 6 education. He must have been a quick learner.

My grampa displayed courage because he fought in World War 2, and he showed optimism because he never concentrated on the bad only the good. He was never negative about life, only the positive.

My grampa influenced me by always being optimistic and he never looked at the negative things in life. He told me to always be myself, no matter the circumstance or situation.
