Wilma G. Rudolph

On June 23, 1940 Wilma Rudolph was born. She was the 20th child of 22 children in Clarksville, Tennessee.

When Wilma was 4 she had a leg injury and had to wear a leg brace until she was 11. The doctors said that Wilma wasn't born to walk, she was born to run.

In high school she ran track for 4 years. After high school the world Olympics administrator gave Wilma a scholarship and Wilma took it. Wilma won every race and won a lot of awards.

On Sunday, November 12, 1994, Wilma died at the age of 54 in her home in Nashville, Tennessee.
