Ben Wallace

by Danielle from Ortonville

Many people have a hero or someone they look up to. The person they look up to is someone they admire or someone who has achieved many goals in their life. Ben Wallace is my hero because he never gave up when things got tough, he's dedicated to the game of basketball, and he's confident.

Ben Wallace is a 6-9 starting center for the Detroit Pistons. Ben was born September 10, 1974. He has accomplished many things in his basketball career. He has won the defensive player of the year award three times. Ben is the shortest person to lead the league in blocked shots. The first and second times he won the award, he was first in the league for rebounds and block shots. Ben has also helped the Pistons to a 2004 NBA championship. Throughout the playoffs Ben averaged a team high in rebounds 12.7.

Ben has a lot of dedication for the game. He was never drafted in the NBA; he was drafted into a different league. Later that season he played with the Washington Wizards. Ben has worked hard to get where he is at now. He is a well known Detroit player. He was the first undrafted player to start in an All-Star game.

Ben has conquered many obstacles in his basketball career. He never gave up when it got tough. He works hard to get where he wants to get. Ben is an awesome basketball player and will try to conquer obstacles that are ahead. Ben keeps improving every game and will continue to work hard.
