Kevin Whalen

My uncle, Kevin Whalen was born in Sydney N.S. on November 25 1959. He is one of five siblings in his family. He is now married and lives in Ontario with his wife and three children. He is a devoted father to his three boys as he is constantly involved in whatever sports the boys are involved in.

My uncle helps others when they need help. A few years ago my uncle's neighbor almost drowned in a backyard swimming pool and my uncle pulled him out of the water and gave him CPR and saved his life. He got a medal of honor from the neighborhood fire department for saving his neighbor's life.

My uncle gets lots of respect from his friends and family as he is always willing to lend a helping hand. Most of the people on his mail route can't wait to see him as he delivers their mail with a smiling face and is always in a good mood.

My uncle is my hero because I was named after him as he was a great brother according to my mom. I was named after him because he was such a good help to his brothers and sisters when they were young. My mom wanted to make him proud and named me after him. I am so happy with my mom and dad’s decision to name me after my uncle. I only hope I can be as good as he is as I get older.
