The first woman that I chose for woman's history month is a woman named Victoria Woodhull. She was born as Victoria Claflin on September 23rd 1838 in Homer, Ohio, into a poor and eccentric family. Victoria was the first woman in the United States history to run for presidency. She ran against Fredrick Douglass in 1872 Both candidates however, lost and President Ulysses S. Grant became president for a second term. She didn't invent something, but she created a radical publication called Woodhull and Claflin's weekly, and was the first woman to run for president in the United States history. She was influenced by the people around her, such as her husband James Blood. Victoria Woodhull influenced the world by opening the doors for every young woman living in the United States to have the chance to become this nation's leader.

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic (http://neurope.eu/article/kolinda-grabar-kitarovi%C4%87-milking-all-sacred-cows/) |
The world has changed a lot since the time Victoria Woodhull was around. On February 2015, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic became the first woman president for the nation of Croatia. Similar to Victoria Woodhull, Kolinda was a female candidate for presidency in her own country. Unlike Woodhull, Kolinda had the achievement of being a nation's President. She didn't invent anything or participate in any woman or equality movements. However becoming a nation's leader, especially as a woman, gives women all around the world hope to achieve their full potential.
To further lead the cause of more women in higher authorities, I would support all women, not just for being a female, but the right person to do a job correctly. If we put more women in the work force just because of their gender, then we aren't doing society any justice. In fact, we would be harming this world if we did so, same applies for males. I would go about finding qualified women to do whatever job is needed and make sure they will achieve their goals and their potential in order for the world to be a better place. Woodhull and Kolinda are excellent examples of what I believe are qualified women. They both tried to reach their potential, one succeeded and one failed, but both tried. The fact that they tried will leave a legacy for all the other girls and women across the globe to try and there will be many more success stories.
