The Wright Brothers were Wilbur and Orville. Wilbur was born in Millville, Indiana, U.S.A. in 1867. Orville was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1871. They lived until 1912 (Wilbur) and 1948 (Orville).
In 1895 Wilbur and Orville created the Wright Cycle Company to build many bicycles. They got a helicopter toy and experimented with it. They also tested the Kitty Hawk (an airplane) and went to France to learn how to fly the Kitty Hawk.
December 1903 Orville flew the first wind powered airplane at Devil’s Hill, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. In 1908 Wilbur demonstrated how to fly the Wright's plane.
1901 The Wright Brothers began testing the Kitty Hawk in wind tunnels. 1909 Wilbur and Orville formed the Wright Company. 1899 Wilbur and Orville experimented with wing kites that looked like small gliders.
Orville and Wilbur are important to me because I like airplanes and the first airplanes were cool. It's not easy to make the airplanes and propellers. Orville and Wilbur didn’t give up. I think they had fun.
