My hero is Yao Ming. Yao Ming was born on September 12, 1980 in Shanghai, China. Yao Ming has played basketball since he was nine. Yao Ming is still alive today playing in the NBA and plays for the Houston Rockets as a center.

I choose Yao Ming as my hero for several reasons. One is that he currently is the tallest basketball player in the NBA! He is seven feet and six inches tall. Another is that he played in the Asian Championships, 2006 World Championships, 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympics without giving up. During the Asian Championships, he led the Chinese national team winning gold medals three times consecutively, while being name the MVP for the three tournaments. He played in China before and now for the National Basketball Association.

Yao Ming is famous in many ways because he can be seen on television, in magazines, and other media. He advertised for many companies and spread his fame through China and in the U.S. He wins and loses, but doesn’t give up. Yao Ming is my hero in many ways. He has shown me not to give up and to do my best.
