Prof. Yohanes Surya PhD.

Prof. Yohanes Surya, PhD. is a physics teacher in University of Indonesia. But, he has a big dream for Indonesian students. He observes that Indonesian students have a great talent in physics. He is sure that Indonesian physics students can reach the most prestigious prize in the world, Nobel Prize. His contribution to the growth of physics education in Indonesia has been known internationally. Now, he had brought an Indonesia Physics Olympiad Team to reach the prestigious level of the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) and International Physics Olympiad (IPhO). He doesn’t want other countries to underestimate Indonesia anymore, and he wants to bring Indonesia to a brighter future.

I started to like him when I was 10 years old. One day, my older brother bought me “Archie & Meidy” comics. The comic was written by Prof. Yohanes Surya. This comic is different from othera. The comics tell about Archy and Meidy, two children who very much like physics and bring it into their daily activity. Every explanation about physics that they give is realistic, as in real life. Then I read the next volumes of these comics, again and again. Then I came to realize that I had become interested in physics. As we know, physics is like a ghost lesson. But, after I read this comic, I knew that physics could be fun. We can actually enjoy it!

Nowadays, I can see physics from the other side. For me, physics is my future and my opportunity. One of my dreams in physics is to be one of Indonesia's Physics Olympiad Team, and win an international physics competition. This is a strange dream that I’ve got since I knew Prof. Yohanes Surya, PhD.
