I think it’s important to recognize the efforts of unsung heroes. If you showed hero know that you appreciate them and they helped make a difference in your life, it will give them the drive to make to keep trying to make differences in other people's lives. I can probably say that my definition of a hero would be somebody who makes a difference in another person’s life. When I say making a difference I mean making the world a little safer for that them. My hometown hero is my mom. Her name Zandra Denise Smiley. My mom’s occupation is a cleaning lady at Saint Mary’s Hospital. A quote that my mom would say is “ stay young and don’t grow to quiet and live life while you can.” Three reasons why I chose my mom as my hero are because she’s loving, thoughtful, and trustworthy.

My mom is a true hero because she picks me up when I’m down. Meaning that when I’m having problems in school or just in everyday life she gives me good advice to help me overcome my problems. My mom is also very loving. She tells me she loves me just about everyday. When I’m sad or just don’t feel good she’s there to comfort me. My mom is more than my parent, she’s my best friend.

Another character trait that describes my mom as a hero is that she’s very thoughtful. For example, if she goes somewhere like the store or something and I don’t go, she always makes sure that she brings me something back. That’s telling me that she’s thinking about me and knew I would have liked her to bring me something back. Another way my mom is thoughtful is because she always makes sure that I have everything I need, as far as hygiene, food, clothing, etc.

Another character trait that describes my mom is trustworthy. My mom is trustworthy because if I tell her something I don’t want anybody else to know, she would keep it a secret. She also trusts me with her secrets and I am happy she can trust in me. I always feel comfortable about telling my mom things that I wouldn’t tell even my best friend. I would tell my mom my secrets before anyone else because I know she wouldn’t look at me differently or judge me. All these things show that my mom is trustworthy.

I chose my mom as my hero because she is my best friend and without her I wouldn’t be here. After doing this project I learned that I need to appreciate my mom and everything she does for me a little bit more and to stop acting like a spoiled brat. The purpose for this project is to have our heroes recognized and for them to recognize themselves. Another reason for this project is so you can also let your hero know how much you appreciate them and why they are your hero. I personally feel that my purpose for this paper has been accomplished and I’m very proud of myself.
