In my opinion a hero is someone who is brave, kind, and always ready to help other people.

I have read a touching story about Melinda Rose Hathaway, who died of a rare form of cancer in 1996, at the age of 15. Melinda spent a lot of time talking with other cancer patients in the hospital. What I admire most about her is that she was very brave and she would not give up.

My mother at home

My hero is my mother, Zdenka. She was born in Novo mesto. She did not have an easy childhood because her father was very strict. She had to start working when she was very young. She studied in the evenings and now she has a university degree. She is a nurse and helps patients in hospital.

My mother is very brave, kind and sensitive to everyone. Although she is sometimes strict, I know this is good for me. She always helps me with a good advice. She is a hero because she has worked hard all her life not only for her own benefit, but also for other people.
