Aaron Tomes

by Catherine from Ft. Worth

If you can't be a highway, be a trail...

Aaron Tomes has been the Minister of Music at North Fort Worth Baptist Church for eleven and a half years. During that time, he has changed many lives and turned many people to Jesus. Unfortunately, on January 21, 2001, he announced his resignation. Aaron is going to another church in Tupelo, Mississippi. Although I have only been in the Youth Choir for two years, I have gotten very close to Aaron and his family.

Aaron was born in Amarillo, Texas on September 10, 1960. He has lived in the great state of Texas all his life. Aaron and his wife Allison have five children, three boys and two girls. The oldest son is Joshua, seven, the twins, Aaron and Adam, four and a half, Grace is two and a half, and last but not least, Joy which is one and a half. Aaron went to Oklahoma Baptist University to study music.

Some qualities I admire in Aaron is his hard work, his Caring heart, willingness, and his love for the Lord. During Choir Tour, Aaron was up every morning before us getting us in a good mood, and went to bed after us preparing for the next day. Aaron is very caring, he makes sure that everything and everyone is taken care of 100% of the time. He is willing to help you with anything you need. Of course, the best quality Aaron has is his love for God. He has a great relationship with God, that is his best quality, it is also the quality that makes him my role model.

All these qualities Aaron has, I can take and apply them to my life. I can work diligently at everything I try, and do it without complaining or arguing. I can be willing to help peers or siblings in need. I can also grow in my relationship with God. That is the most important thing. By looking At Aaron's life and comparing it to mine, I see I have a long ways to go. It will be hard to get where I'm going in life, but with role models like Aaron, I'm sure to get there.

If you can't be a highway,
be a trail,
If you can't be the sun,
be a star,
It's not by size that you pass or fail,
Be the best of who you are.

"I thank my God every time I remember you..."
