Andrew Adkison

by Taylor from Mississasuga

"I wouldn't be surprised if I like wakeboarding more than anyone else out there. I don't stop having fun the whole time I ride. You have to stop me."

Andrew inspires a lot of younger people like me. He’s my hero because he's an awesome wakeboarder, not only because he became pro, but because of what he went through. It obviously takes qualities like determination, dedication and confidence. He never gave up on anything. The first time he tried to get up on a board he fell, but the next day he tried again and got right up. The reason I chose this wakeboarder and not another one is because of his life story that I already mentioned, and some stuff we have in common like we both use a CWB board and his boat is very similar to mine. Andrew Adkison is an inspiration and a sweet wakeboarder.

Andrew Adkison made his first professional victory a big one, taking the top spot in the Pro Men’s division of the Vans WWA Wakeboard World Championships on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at the Orlando Watersports Complex.

Currently Andrew Adkison is riding for Hyperlite. He hooked up with Hyperlite by working at a wakeboard shop to learn more about it. He always told his boss that they should carry Hyperlite. Eventually they did, and picked him up as a rider. Andrew's other sponsors are MasterCraft, a sweet boat company that makes awesome wakeboarding boats, Oakley which is an awesome place to get some nice shades, CWB which is an amazing wakeboard company that makes boards and other supplies, GM Vortec and Loud Liquid. Andrew picked all these sponsors up in just a short time.

Andrew Adkison, my hero, got into wakeboarding one day when he went to the lake with some of his friends and saw a 40-year-old guy doing flips behind a boat. He was quoted as saying, “That’s crazy, I’ve got to try that.” The first day he attempted to get up on a board he was unsuccessful, frustrated, and he pretty much gave up. His friends made him go again the next day. He got up on the first try. He has been hooked ever since. That's why Andrew inspires me more than other wakeboarders. He now rides a black and white super nautique with a sweet stereo system.

Some interesting and personal facts on Andrew Adkison: He was born April 8th, 1982 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He’s 5'11 and weighs 160 pounds. He’s been competing in pro for 4 years now.
