Freddy Adu |
My hero is Freddy Adu. He plays for the D.C United Soccer Club. He is one of the highest paid soccer players in the U.S.A. He signed with D.C. United two years ago at the age of 14. He has been invited to try out for the U.S.A. National Team. He is also getting offers to play from Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Ajax, Juventus, Chelsea, Internationale and Arsenal, which are all international professional soccer club teams. He played in a tournament in Italy when he was 9, and he was voted M.V.P of the whole tournament and was given a $750,000 offer from Inter Milan which was the best soccer club at the time. His mom turned the contract down because she thought he was too young.

My hero was born in Tema, Ghana. He now lives in Washington, D.C. Freddy Adu came to the United States because his mom won an immigration lottery. Freddy, his mom, his brother and his dad settled in Washington, D.C., but his dad walked out on Freddy’s family and no one knows where he is now. Freddy's soccer skills were discovered when a friend asked him to play soccer at recess at school. Freddy has used his earnings to buy his family a bigger house in D.C.

Freddy Adu was born on June 2, 1989. He came to the United States at age 8. He played in Italy when he was 9. He started playing major league soccer when he was 14. He is 16 years old now. He is in high school and has very good grades. He has to stay in school because his mom wants him to get an education. Freddy Adu is important to me for several reasons. He shows that young people can be very successful. He also shows that you do not have to be rich to be good at something. He also shows that no matter what life throws at you, like his dad leaving him or moving from another country, you can still go on with your life and be someone special. He knows that education is important even though he will probably be very rich some day and might not need to be educated. He will need to know how to manage his money, but right now his mom does that for him.
Freddy Adu inspires me to play my hardest in every game. He is very exciting to watch because he is very athletic. He is considered a soccer prodigy and he is recognized as being like Pele. I would like to be as good a soccer player as he is. Another thing about him is that he is not very tall, like me, but he is one of the best players out there. In his interviews he comes across as a nice and funny person. He makes jokes with his interviewers, and he is always smiling. I think he is a good hero.
