Alexander Fleming was born on August 6, 1881. He was born in Scotland and grew up on a farm. At the age of 13, he moved to England and attended St Mary’s Hospital medical school.

He became a bacteriologist after he was offered the position. In World War I, Alexander became a medical captain. He married Sarah McElroy in 1915; they had one son, Robert, and Sarah died in 1949. In 1953 he married Amalia Koutsouri, another scientist. Unfortunately, Alexander died in March 11, 1955.

Alexander Fleming decided to experiment on a very dangerous bacteria called staphylococcus. Because he was taking a vacation, he left these bacteria in his lab to test later, but when he came back, the bacteria were dead and there was a mold in the sample. He found out that the juice of the mold killed the bacteria. He applied the mold juice to the war veterans who were dying and saved their lives. The mold juice, later called penicillin, became a local medicine used everywhere. Alexander also found lysozyme, an enzyme found in tears and saliva.

Alexander Fleming had some interesting achievements and an active life. He saved the world, from its #1 problem, with mold juice. And found an enzyme. Alexander was a scientist with great achievements.
