After graduating at the top of his class he became a politician and studied under Andres Bonifacio. In the end, he became known as the Brains of the Philippine Revolution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apolinario_Mabini As a child, being in a poor class of life, Apolinario Mabini had an aspiration for knowledge, and when he changed his choice of career later in life his devotion to knowledge never stopped. According to the pages 72 and 73 in a biography on Apolinario Mabini, found in the Gale Databases, Mabini who started in the poverty class of the Philippines got to such an accomplishment through his strong devotion. “He studied at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in 1881 and at the University of Santo Thomas, where he received the law degree in 1894. During this time he earned his living by teaching Latin and then serving as copyist in the Court of First Instance in Manila.” As being favored by the American Forces, Mabini is captured while his legs are paralyzed and he is disabled. The Americans offered him support to bring him to the U.S. government for selfish reasons. He still refused to swear his allegiance and stay devoted to his own country -- The Philippines. According to a similar Biography on the Gale Databases, Mabini’s Actions show complete devotion without hesitation to his country. “When the Aguinaldo camp fled from the advancing American forces, Mabini was captured on Dec. 10, 1899. Still refusing to swear an oath of allegiance to the U.S. government and continuing to support the insurgents in their ideological struggle, he was deported to Guam in 1901. He died on May 13, 1903.” As being favored by the American Forces, Mabini is captured while his legs are paralyzed and he is disabled. Many people do a lot of stuff that others may consider heroic. In a way, when you just do something to be heroic in a selfish way rather than do it for something that matters to a lot of people -- even an entire country, you can see the difference of spirit towards these actions. From the Government webpage from the Philippines there is are many transcripts of Apolinario Mabini, however, they are in a dialect from the Philippines. So, Leon Ma. Guerrero translated it into English for easier reading and the translated works are from Apolinario originally. "We fought in the conviction that our dignity and sense of duty required the sacrifice of defending our freedoms as long as we could, since without them social equality between the dominant class and the native population would be impossible in practice and perfect justice among us could not have been achieved. Yet we knew it would not be long before our scant resources were exhausted, and our defeat inevitable." Anyone can have courage or perseverance to fight, but when fighting with spirit, with purpose, and with whole commitment, the hero side of a person shines brighter than their actions without spirit. In this script by Apolinario Mabini, he explains how the strength of the sacrifices and dignity in the fight for perfect justice must happen or else the fight resulting in defeat would be quite noticeable and quick. Not only did he see that he and his fellow country people would lose hope eventually and inspired for the spirit in the fight for freedom from Spain, he wanted the Philippines to live by new rules to no longer be subdue to another country. "His policy throughout the struggle can be epitomized by a statement in that decree: "The first duty of the government is to interpret the popular will faithfully. "Mabini was also instrumental in supervising the proper administration of justice, the election of delegates to the revolutionary congress, and the establishment of the mechanism of the revolutionary government itself." Being in charge of supervising proper justice is a great deal of not being bias, so he must not be God be there to interpret wrong versus right actions, while the war is happening. Not only was his heart in the revolution, but it was also in the future of the government and its mechanism in understanding upcoming events that may affect the government and the people of the Philippines. According to the scripts given from these two sources, Mabini shows the spirit of in his actions to better his country for him and the next generations.

While he is giving 100% he is also not giving up in his fight and not losing hope toward the victory for the country, which he sees come closer as long as he keeps up his devotion for the Philippines and its future. Apolinario Mabini is an inspiration because while living life in almost the lowest of poverty, he devoted himself to knowledge as a priest. However, he soon realized that wasn’t his path to follow.
