My heroes are the men and women of the United States Army. I’m not just talking about the ones who see combat; I’m talking about the other people that sit in the control rooms or the ones that direct planes on the deck of a battle cruiser. Those men and women are the backbone of most military operations.
You might think that the combat engineers and the army rangers have more battle experience and probably do more physical activity than the desk jockeys, but all of these groups do the same amount of work.
Most of the men and women of the United Satates Army live with their families when they are off duty. The soldiers that are on active duty live outdoors or wherever their group is stationed whether it be in a hotel or a fox hole in the middle of Baghdad.
My hero is a hero to others near and far because he is a protector of freedom. The U.S. has the most powerful military in the world and is well equipped to protect and serve when needed. Our military is currently stationed in Iraq helping the country and its people. They also are stationed back home ready to serve if called upon. There are many differant types of heroism in the military. One example would be in World War II,three men sitting in a fox hole, a grenade hitting their hole and one man dives on it. That's heroism.

Overall my heroes are pretty good at what they do. Some jobs in the military that are heroic are nurse, medic, combat engineer, or an army ranger.
