Ben Harper

Ben Harper is an artist that inspires many people to think creatively and create art. Ben Harper is a singer and a musician who writes and edits his own music.

Ben Harper was born in 1969 and brought up in the suburbs of Los Angeles. His heroes were Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. When Ben was five, he had convinced his parents to buy a guitar. Along with his guitar his parents got him singing lessons so that he could sing and play the guitar at the same time. When Ben reached the age of 13 he started to play music in a coffee shop that was in his home town. He was then discovered by Taj Mahal and Brownie McGhee at the age of 14.

Ben signed to Virgin Records and made his first album in 1994 called "Welcome to the Cruel World." His band Innocent Criminals made another album in 1995 called "Fight for Your Mind" and another album in 1997, "The Will to Live."

In 2001 Ben and his band, Innocent Criminals, had their biggest break ever. They held a concert called Live from Mars. People from all over the world came to hear him perform.

Ben Harper has become a hero of mine because he does not care about what other people think of him and he plays music. He plays because he wants to, not because anyone else tells him to. Not many people have heard of him or heard any of his music. I wouldn't be surprised if someday he becomes very well known for his talent.
