Banjo Patterson

by Jayden from Melbourne

I think a hero is someone who does good things for people. My hero is Banjo Patterson. I like Banjo Patterson because he wrote poems.

Banjo wrote poems like Waltzing Matilda, The Man From Snowy River, Clancy Of The Overflow, Black Swans, Boots, Our Own Flag and The Riders In The Stand. He also wrote books called An Outback Marriage and Shearer’s Colt.

Banjo Patterson was born near Orange in New South Wales. He was born in the year 1864. He was married and he did have kids. His wife was Alice Walker. He was an author, a journalist and a composer. He died of a heart attack in 1941. He was seventy-six years old.
