Rocky Balboa

by Freddy from Hart, Michigan

Rocky Balboa is my hero for setting an example in the sport of boxing. Rocky was a fighter that had no hope. Rocky had no recognition. He used to fight on local shows and got paid 100 dollars to be a professional boxer. That is really low! He was born in Philedelphia Pennsylvania in a poor neighborhood. He fought in the heavyweight division. He was a strong guy with a goal in his mind. His goal was to become great and become the heavyweight champion of the world. He was around 30 years old and looking for a better life. He had no family around. All he had was his friends from the neighborhood.

Rocky was called for a fight. The fight of his life. He was offered a fight for the heavyweight championship of the world. Rocky's promoters talked to him about the fight. At first, Rocky wasn't sure whether to take it or not. It was a chance to become a champion and get recognition. When he heard that he was going to win a lot of money he took the fight and was looking forward to accomplishing his goal. He went to his trainer and asked him for help. His trainer was excited and agreed to help him even though he did not believe that Rocky could win. Rocky started training really hard. He stopped smoking, got rid of other distractions and really focused on the upcoming fight. When I have an upcoming fight I also try to focus, avoiding any kind of distraction.

Well, like I said, Rocky was born in Philydelphia Pennsylvania. The place where he stayed was not really that good for a living. He lived in the poorest neighborhood where there were bums sleeping in the alleys and in the middle of the streets. His apartment was dirty, his clothes were thrown all over the floor, his couches were full of tears and holes that he covered with newspaper. His fridge was empty. All he had was a couple of eggs and a half a gallon of milk. He also had some pets. His pets were reptiles. He had two painted turtles in a tiny fish bowl. He spent most of the time talking to them.

Rocky was born in 1945 in Philydelphia Pennsylvania.

I am a boxer and Rocky is the the the best role-model to follow. When I watch his movies I feel like boxing; it just pumps me up! When I start to train, sometimes I remember how Rocky used to train he used to train really hard. When I feel tired I go harder to be like Rocky; a champion of the world. He also represents success. Rocky was a no good fighter but had hopes of being great. He had no quitting on his mind. So now I am trying to follow his footsteps to become great and famous. He is also important to me because if he made it with hope then if I believe in myself and that anything is possible. Rocky is a great hero to me.
