BTS

by Ava White from Mrs. Safreed room

I’m here to explain who my heroes are and why they are my heroes.

My heroes are BTS. They in general are just great people. They've been through so much, but they still have stayed very happy, and grateful, and the fame has not gone to their heads like some other artists. They are always having fun and are never negative. They have gone from nothing to being known world wide.

First off, the eldest is Jin. One day, someone that worked at BigHit saw how attractive he was and just signed him, and he didn't even know how to sing or dance. So then he was assigned to be an actor for the company, but he wanted to prove to BigHit that he could be in a k-pop group. He always stayed extra hours practicing, so he could improve on his performance, and finally got assigned to a group. His trainee days were hard and painful, but he made it through. He is always so confident, calling himself “Worldwide Handsome,” but in general he is a crazy goofball that laughs like a windshield wiper.

Next, Namjoon is my hero, because when he was a kid his family had a little less money than other families in their town, but he pursued music and rapping. When he got a little older, he became an underground rapper, just so he could earn money while he was doing the things that he loved. One day, an employee from BigHit saw one of his performances, and signed him to be a trainee. He finally made it, and was the first member of BTS. He, most of the time, stays calm and collected, but he occasionally screams like a crazy banshee when the other members are messing around.

Yoongi, my other hero, grew up dirt poor when he was a child, but he always wanted to be a rapper and release mixtapes. He always wrote lyrics when he was sad, but his parents were unsupportive and threw them away. He too was an underground rapper to get around and make money. When he had to go after his performances were over, he didn't have that much money with him. So he often had to skip eating for the day because he had to get a bus ticket to get home. After a while when he released his first mixtape, multiple k-pop group companies tried to sign him, but he picked BigHit after he saw a video of Namjoon rapping. But the day he tried out for the company, he got hit by a car and dislocated his shoulder. Now he can't do all of the dances for his group at his full capacity because of this accident. After their debut, no one really liked them and were saying lots of mean and disrespectful things about them, but targeted Yoongi because he was poor. After that era and all these horrible things that has happened to him, he got diagnosed with depression, but the reason he is my hero is because he still stays as hardworking as he can. Even though all these unfortunate things have happened to him in his life, he is always happy, or he’s really sleepy, but he is still really happy.

Hoseok, the last rapper to be assigned to BTS, was an underground dancer when he was just 13. He had a pretty normal childhood, but when he got into to his trainee days, there was a problem. He couldn't rap, even though he was assigned to rap. So before their debut, he stayed up late to work on his rapping with Namjoon and Yoongi. During the period when they weren't so famous, there were people who started a hashtag to kick him out: #kick Jhope out of BTS. There was so much pressure put on him that he got anxiety. But after that people started to defend him and the hashtag ended, but sometimes he works so hard to impress his fans that he got narcolepsy. He takes medicine to get rid if the symptoms. Over the years he has become more positive, and let me tell you... He is the most energetic, joyful, and loud person you will ever see in you entire life.

Jimin is my hero because from the start, he was so confident in what he was doing, he never had a doubt in himself, and he was right. He only had one year of training, which is pretty short to be a trainee as a k-pop idol. The best thing is that one of his trainers saw so much potential in him that he paid for his whole training period. But like all the other members, he had some hard times too. When they had their debut, in their first music video, the company wanted him to wear a tank top just because he has a muscular body. That made him feel self-conscious about himself. So he felt like he had to work, just so the fans would like him. But now he’s much happier because they got to go to the Billboard Music Awards.

Like Yoongi, Taehyung grew up very poor, and he developed a liking for music at a young age. So when he was 14, he auditioned to be an idol. He was the only person from his town to make it to be a trainee. He said that if he never tried out tried to be a k-pop idol that he would be a farmer back in his old town. He got the attention of BigHit and got into their company. Now he is a successful member of BTS.

The youngest, Jungkook, barely had a childhood. When he was just 11, he tried out to be an idol for a competition for aspiring artists, but he got rejected. His audition video got the attention of multiple k-pop groups, but joined BigHit after he saw a video of Namjoon and Yoongi rapping. He was a k-pop trainee when he was just 13 and debuted when he was just 15. Most of the time being an artist at a young age would mess with a kid's head but, Jungkook has stayed happy and humble.

The reason I chose this group of people is because they have such a big impact on my life, and it’s not the music that I just like, but in general they are just a bunch of great people. I hope that all the rest of their dreams come true, and that they continue to make music, be happy, and be themselves.
