My hero is the NBA basketball player Vince Carter, who plays for the New Jersey Nets. He slams, he blocks shots and he is one of the best dunkers in the NBA league.
When he was 8 years old, his parents divorced, so he grew up with his mother and a younger brother on the outskirts of Miami. During his high-school he was the best basketball player of the High-school league. His brother had the same dream of being the best. After failing the attempt, his brother started to abuse drugs. Nevertheless, Vince continued his successful basketball career. He even participated at the Olympic Games in 2000, where he literally jumped over 7'2" tall Frederic Weis. With his help, his team returned from the Olympic Games with a gold medal. During the 2002-2003 season, he was injured, but this year he is back on the court, scoring lots of points for his team. Now with his 28 years he earns about 16 million dollars per year.
I really enjoy watching his games, when he dunks and plays really well in offence. When he jumps, he almost flies! I like him because despite the fact that he is rich, he has still remained modest.
Since I am such a fan of his, I have his poster on the wall of my room. Next month I really hope I will get the same model of basketball sport shoes that he always plays with.
