AWARD WINNING STUDENT ESSAYS
Web-authoring tools have been designed for visitors to use to create and publish web pages with images, text and links, honoring heroes from all walks of life. The web-authoring program is used in homes, classrooms, after-school, vocational and library programs. MY HERO has been integrated across interdisciplinary school curricula to advance core standards-based learning and to build critical thinking, reading, writing and media literacy skills.
In 2014, MY HERO staff reviewed, edited and activated 1,992 essay submissions from over 943 schools. 58 t-shirt prizes were awarded to authors whose essays were featured on the website.
