“The more you give, the more you get in return.” Dave Thomas, my hero, lived these words. He was born July 2, 1932 and died January 8, 2002 at the age of 69. Dave Thomas lived in many different places. He lived in Atlantic City, Detroit, Fort Wayne, Knoxville, and mostly in Columbus, Ohio.
One of Dave Thomas’s greatest accomplishments in life was creating Wendy’s. It is one of the greatest fast food restaurant chains in America and, in my opinion, they have some of the best chicken nuggets and hamburgers I have ever tasted. Dave Thomas created Wendy’s because growing up as a child he was always in fast food restaurants. So, he wanted to make his own. He lived his dream.
Another great thing that he did was to create an adoption foundation. He did this because he was a foster child and was adopted by a nice loving family. He wanted every foster child to get adopted into a caring family just like he did. “Every child deserves a permanent home and loving family. If just one foster child is adopted, all of our work has been worth it.”
Dave Thomas created the Wendy’s Three Tour Challenge. It is a golf tournament. It includes the Senior, the LPGA, and the PGA tour. It is a foundation that has raised over 11 million dollars for children.
Dave Thomas is important because he is an inspiration to me. He never gave up and was a hard worker. He followed his dream to make life better for children. Dave Thomas has made a big difference in my life. He taught me to not always think about myself and to never lose hope. Once in school, I wasn’t doing so well, but I never gave up and kept on trying because I remembered him and how he lived his life. I started to do well again. Dave Thomas cared about others. His caring helped me. He is my hero.
