David Ortiz

     David Ortiz was born on Nov. 18, 1975.  He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  He played with the Minnesota Twins. Then he got signed with the Red Sox in 2003. David was a left hander. David's nickname is Big Papi.

He was a ten time all star and a three time world series champion. David holds a single-season record for home runs with 54.In 2004, he helped the Red Sox win their first world series after 86 years. He was named mvp in 2013! He as the highest career batting average in world  series play of .455.

His number 34 was retired by the Boston Red Sox in 2017. Each time he crossed the plate he would look up to the sky to his mom. In 2007, he started his own charity to help children. In 2013 he hit his 2,000th career hit. He is the best hitter ever. He is my hero.
