- Diana as a child - (www.google.com) |
Diana Frances Spencer was born on July 1, 1961. As a child, she lived at Park House, a mansion on the Queen's country estate in Sandringham, Norfolk. She grew up being the third of four children in the family. She had two older sisters, Sarah and Jane, along with a younger brother, Charles. Diana lived next door to her future husband, Charles. She knew him as a child, but because of the difference in their ages, she often played with his younger brothers. She lived a happy life, but in 1969 her parents, France Roche and Viscount Althorp, divorced. After that, Diana found herself going back and forth between her parents until her father finally won custody of all the children. She finished school at the Institute Alpin Videmanette in Rougemont, Switzerland. She perfected the French language and she then worked as a kindergarten teacher at a school in London. The beautiful young woman was also an excellent pianist and competitive skier.
In the summer of 1980, Charles and Diana went on their first date. Six months later, Charles proposed to her after a candlelight dinner at Buckingham Palace. She accepted, making her Princess of Wales. On the day of their wedding, crowds packed the streets of London and the rest of the world watched it from their televisions. On June 21, 1982, a little less then a year after, she gave birth to her first son, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis. Two years later, her second son, Prince Harry Henry Charles Albert David was born. In the early years of their marriage, everything was perfect, but soon it started to fall apart. She found out that her husband still had feelings for another woman, Camilla Parker-Bowles. She then suffered from an eating disorder and depression. In December 1992, they both agreed to a legal separation. Even though her love for Charles had died, she still remained a very loving mother.
At one point in Diana's life, she suffered from bulimia, also attempting suicide. After overcoming her problems, she decided to share this part of her life with the public. She thought that if she could overcome it, others could as well. Diana used her power and fame to help others. She liked to get involved with charities. She helped thousands of people suffering from many diseases like AIDS/HIV, and cancer. She also helped people in poverty. She was a young girl wanting to make a big difference in the world. She lent a helping hand to whoever was in need, and with just one smile, she could make someone feel better. She was very committed and she had a lot of passion for what she did.
People would do anything to get pictures of Diana. On the night of August 31st, 1977 someone went too far, causing the death of Diana, her friend, Dodi Al Fayed, and their chauffeur. They were in a tragic car accident. Even though she's no longer here to lend her helping hand, people who saw her as a role model are following in her footsteps to make the world a better place.
Princess Diana is my hero because of her devotion to people in need. Even though she went through a lot in her life, nothing stopped her. She was very committed to what she does and she used her power and fame to help others. She supported many charities and many people looked up to her. It's been five years since her death and, still today, her legacy remains. Diana helped many people throughout her life, and people who were inspired by her are giving back by helping with charities. She was a hero to many people. By doing all that, I consider Princess Diana to be a hero.
