My Hero. He's not famous. He's doesn't have a cape to fly like Superman. He's never really invented anything that's made tons of money! He's just a regular human being. My Dad! A usual everyday Dad!

The reason I picked to do an essay on my dad is because he's helped me with homework, piano, violin and lots of other stuff I haven't perfected yet. My dad is very special, courageous, and I look up to him and admire him a lot! He is strong-willed, firm, and kind which is what a good parent should be. All parents should be kind but firm, since a lot of kids won't obey! My dad is always firm. I want to be just as good a parent when I grow up as my dad is to me.

Another reason I look up to my dad is that he got a college education at one of the top ten schools in the country, Purdue! For four hardworking years, my dad finally got an engineering degree, and now is working at Lucent Technologies! A few years ago he got a patent for improving the Pin Detector!

He's also saved me in a life or death situation when I was just a little girl who didn't know how to swim. It started out when my family went to my mom's cousin's house and my dad, my brother, and I were swimming in their pool. I was just floating around in my little tube while my brother and dad were swimming and I guess I got kind of jealous and I took off my tube and started to imitate how my dad was swinging his arms. I was kicking like a swimmer would do... gulp I was a drowning! I guess bubbles were coming out of the water and my dad turned around and I wasn't there! He dove down to where the bubbles were and he brought me to the surface. I don't remember what happened next, but after that experience I've always believed my real hero is my dad!!!

My dad is a special one-of-a-kind hero which maybe a lot of heroes are, but he always goes for what he believes in. That is what I think is one of his best heroic charateristics. He doesn't have to get people's attention. He does it from his heart. He does 'cause he wants to! That is why I chose to write this essay on my one and only DAD!
