Pat Elynuik Web (I made it) |
Pat Elynuik grew up in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. He was born October 30, 1967. He is six feet, one inch tall and he weighs one hundred eighty five pounds. He shoots right and played right wing throughout his career. A special thing about Pat Elynuik is that he played on the Canadian team so he got to represent his country in the juniors division. He has played on many NHL teams. His first year in the NHL was in 1987-1988 and his first team was the Winnipeg Jets. That year he got 1 goal and 3 assists with a total of 4 points. He now has a wife and 3 boys. One of his sons is my friend and plays on my hockey team.

Paragraph 2 Pat's life is very remarkable because he played in the NHL for a lot of years and on many teams. He is admirable because he was a very good passer, playmaker and scorer. He is a nice human being and many players wanted to play with him because he was such a nice teammate. If he was about to get a hard check, his teammates would back him up. I think the quality that was most helpful for Pat was that he was a nice, kind person and a talented player. There is one mistake that Pat made, but it wasn't only him. It was when he played on the Junior Canadian Team and they got into a huge fight. Pat was in it and if I were him, I would have just backed away, unless I was getting attacked, then I would have protected myself, but I wouldn't have fought back. This is true of my hero because when he was a little boy, his dad just kept pushing him to get better and I think that helped him because he used to play in the NHL, so it is good if you get pushed, but not if you get pushed so hard that you just want to burst and quit the sport. Yes, he did follow the rules and he had to listen to the coaches that he had in the past because if he didn't listen to them, he might not have been in the NHL. A hero to me is someone that saves your life, does something to help out our earth, or maybe even inspires you to do something. Pat doesn't know that he is a hero to me, but as my hockey coach this year, he inspires me to play hockey, work harder in hockey, and work hard at school. Pat had his dad as a hero because his dad pushed him to work harder and look where Pat got to play, in the NHL. I think that is pretty special. Pat lived in Saskatoon and he had a son that played on the best team in Saskatoon. His son was one of the best players on the team and Pat was the coach of that team. So not only is he a good hockey player, but he is also a very good hockey coach. Pat is living right here in Calgary. I don't know what Pat's job is now, but he is coaching my hockey team this year.

Pat Elynuik and his junior team won the Memorial Cup. Pat Elynuik was a pretty good goal scorer but he didnt get the Maurice Trophy. That is the trophy for the player who scores the most goals. Pat played for many teams such as the Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Winnipeg Jets, and the Washington Capitals. Pat didn't win any trophies for those teams. He only got a trophy for the World Juniors.
I chose Pat because he inspires me to work hard at everything, to get in the game, and get gritty. I have learned from Pat that if you are a good teammate, your teammates will be there to help you make and complete plays and to help you get out of tough situations.
