Eric Greitens

Eric Greitens was born on Aprill 10th, 1974, in St. Louis, Missouri. 

Eric Greitens is considered a hero because he is a Navy Seal, and Navy Seals help people. This would make Eric Greitens considered a hero because of his saving the lives of men, women, and children, and at the same time putting his life in danger for the lives of people.

The family of Eric Greitens was very supportive. They helped him get homework and school work or just ordinary housework done. They also supported him. The book states, “College is the way into the real life” (Greitens 15). His family wanted him to prepare him for college. He really wanted to go to college when his mom told him that, so he started to get better grades in school. When he got into high school, he was really excited to go to college. When he went to college he didn't like it. He thought, “This is not what life is like, a man scratching stuff on a board” (Greitens 15). Eric Greitens dropped out of college.

Eric Greitens accidentally started a fire at a bus stop and he thought, “Will they still let me into college?” Of course, he did get into college but he thought he would not get into college. He only lit the fire because he was cold. Also, he thought he would not get into college because his mother told him college was the way into the real life.

Eric Greitens traveled around to different countries and helped people when he was there. He has gone to China to teach about America, and Rwanda. He helped refugees in camps, and in Bosnia he helped more refugees in need of help. This made Eric Greitens a different man, because he has helped people in many different countries.

Eric Greitens had to overcome many problems in his life. In Bosnia, the Serbs were killing many people and he could have been killed by the Serbs who were conquering European soil. In Iraq, he could have been killed by terrorists even if he was a highly trained soldier. In China he could have been arrested for something he did not know was a rule.

Eric Greitens has a big talent. He saves people's lives as a soldier and that is really brave for a soldier. At any moment you can be killed by a terrorist or someone out to kill you, so it’s a really dangerous job to be a Navy Seal.

An important moment in Eric Greitens' life was when he learned that people sometimes don't care if they kill someone or not, they are just doing what their orders say. Eric Greitens goes to stop people from killing innocent people.

Eric Greitens is still alive and he is very politically involved. He joined politics in 2015 and is still doing that today. This is good because he now works with the government and he proposes laws.
