Expanding Expectations

Harry Styles, Freddie Mercury, and James Charles are heroes within modern day society because they push and expand the limits biological gender creates in society. Biological gender is the sex you are ascribed with by society based on physical characteristics. Within cultures, expectations are created for each gender such as what males, females, and other genders are supposed to wear or what jobs they are supposed to complete. In western society, according to informal rules (rules that are created by social expectations, not by the law) men should dress "masculinely" meaning they should not wear dresses or makeup. Styles, Mercury, and Charles ignore the gender expectations created by society and wear typically "feminine" clothing. They want to show the public that you should express who you are even if it is against what society says.
