My hero is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He is also known as Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was an inspirational leader in India. He has changed his country and our world with his ethics and teachings.
Gandhi was born in the present state of Gujarat on October 2nd, 1869. The state of Gujarat is in Pobandar. After years of college at the University College in London, he was accepted into the British bar.

Later on in his life, Gandhi returned to India to try to establish a new law practice in Mumbai. His attempts were fruitless, however that did not stop him. He was eventually offered a job as a legal adviser in an office in Durban. The time Gandhi spent there changed his life forever.
While working at his job in Durban, Gandhi was treated as an inferior race and was denied his civil liberties. He found out that he was not the only one being treated like this, and was disgusted at the thought of having to live this way. Because of that experience, he entered the fight for elementary rights.

Through his lifetime, Gandhi made many struggles to free his country. Eventually, after many arguments and fasts (eating only what is absolutely necessary for a long time), in 1947, India gained complete and total freedom.
During the time of January, 1948, Gandhi held a fast in New Delhi to try and keep peace. However, certain people in New Delhi disagreed with Gandhi’s interpretation of freedom. Sadly, after his fast ended, he was assassinated. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was pronounced dead on January 30, 1948.
Mohandas Gandhi was an inspirational leader. His ethics and the accomplishments he made are important to me because he taught the world if you stick to your beliefs, you can make your vision a reality.
