Kevin Garnett grew up in Mauldin, South Carolina. He became a high school basketball star. Garnett moved to Chicago for his senior year. In 1995 he was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He became the first NBA player in 20 years. Garnett decided to skip college after realizing he would be a high pick in the draft and would be in line for some major moola.
He signed a multi-million dollar contract when he was 19 years old. He was named to the All-Star team after his second season. Kevin Garnett would always make rebounds and blocked shots. Despite those skills, Kevin hasn't been able to lead his Timberwolves past Western Conference powerhouses like the Lakers, the Kings or the Spurs.
Kevin Garnett has a tattoo of his initials, "K.G.," and another on his arm holding a basketball with the words, "Blood, Sweat and Tears." His favorite foods are hamburgers, french fries and pizza. In 2002, Kevin Garnett launched his own OBF (Offical Block Family) clothing line. OBF refers to the friends and family he grew up with in South Carolina, who he still hangs out with.
Kevin Garnett is my hero because he is a very great guy, helpful person, neat person, caring guy, and has good sportsmanship. Two things that make him caring are that he doesn't forget about his friends and family, and he sometimes visits children in the hospital. He is my hero because I want to be like this guy.
