Established as one of the world's best loved Hispanic artists, Diego Rivera painted this portrait of perhaps his most devoted patron; art collector, philanthropist and businesswomen, Dolores Olmedo Patino, also known as "Lola".
The museum where this painting lives, Museo Dolores Olmedo Patino, holds arguably the world's finest collections of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo paintings. Convinced that these two painters were among Mexico's most prized treasures, Patino created the museum, then bequeathed it to the Mexican people when she died in 2002. She was 93.
