Laguna Beach Boys and Girls Club visit the Laguna Canyon Conservancy
This field trip to the Laguna Canyon Conservancy was part of the MY HERO Program at the Laguna Beach Boys and Girls Club.
The MY HERO Project holds a weekly workshop at the Laguna Beach Boys and Girls Club. The focus of this workshop is to teach students about the multimedia resources available around them and how MY HERO can help them take advantage of these exciting tools. MY HERO also teaches the students about environmental issues and safety awareness, in the classroom and through the first-hand experiences on field trips to local wilderness sites.
MY HERO took forty-four students to the Laguna Canyon Conservancy on Wednesday May 9th, 2012. They learned about the efforts of local heroes to protect open spaces, as well as the importance of respecting the wilderness. Max Borella and staff from the Laguna Canyon Conservancy led two groups of students through the Conservancy's wilderness park. The students used video and digital still cameras to document their adventure. Many of the children had never been to this pristine greenbelt. They explored caves, saw wildlife and came away with a greater understanding of nature and respect for our beautiful community.
