Picasso created Guernica, the greatest anti-war mural ever
With Guernica, Picasso attempted to illustrate the tragedy, chaos and suffering of war. Guernica was painted in 1937 in response to the bombing of Guernica, a Basque Country village in northern Spain by German and Italian warplanes at the behest of Spanish nationalist forces during the Spanish Civil War. Picasso's Guernica helped bring the world's attention to the Spanish Civil War.
