Kirk Lee Hammett

What is a hero? A hero, to me, is a person that has strived to accomplish a feat that they set when they were young. A hero can be any person in the world, even if they are not heroes to other people. Many heroes are people that have made a difference in the world. The name of my hero is Kirk Lee Hammett. He is a guitarist for a very famous band named Metallica. Metallica has about eight albums released already. Kirk Hammett was in seven of the eight albums.

Kirk Lee Hammett was born on November 18, 1962. He was born in San Francisco, California. He played his brother's guitar, but he was soon to own his own guitar. He owned his first guitar when he was only 15 years of age. He had been long time friends with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. He talked to a bunch of friends about music. He had great respect and love for music and musicians. His favorite musician, then and now, is Jimi Hendrix.

Kirk had started a band in 1981 called Exodus. The members of the band consisted of Joe Satriani, Les Claypool, Kirk Hammett and Cliff Burton. The band did not create any CDs. After continous fights between band members, the band split up and were never to get back toghether. Five months after Exodus broke up Kirk moved into a band named Metallica, which would change the world forever. Kirk flew to New York to go jam with Metallica. Metallica consisted of Jason Newsted, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett. The band Metallica was born in 1983 and is still toghther. Metallica with Kirk Hammett would change the world forever. The way this would change the world is because Kirk was with the greatest band of all time and would make rock different.

Their first ever album "Kill-Em-All" was released in 1983. This was Kirk's first ever album. They made many albums throught the year. Kirk's favorite album was "Master of the Puppets." All of their albums sold over millions of copies. After completing the album "Load" they thought it sounded so good that they would make a sequel to it named "Re-load." Metallica has done tons of road-trips. In the album "And Justice For All," Kirk showed off his speed by playing many, many solos which are very hard and very fast.

To sum it all up, the reason Kirk Lee Hammett is my favorite hero is because he has influenced me to start playing guitar. Also, he has influenced me to start a band and try to get big. I someday hope to meet Kirk, but until then I will practice day in and day out. Even though Kirk doesn't have any super powers...that anyone knows about, he is still a hero. Kirk is currently ranked 12th in the world with guitar according to www.guitar.com. I hope that some day I will be as good, or at least somewhat as good, as Kirk. I think a real hero is anyone that has accomplished a big feat. There are many heroes in the world, but Kirk is the most important to me.
