Harriet Tubman

by Sandra Wang from Glenelg, Maryland in United States

My hero is Harriet Tubman. She was born Araminta Ross around 1820-1823. Her nickname was "Minty". She died on March 10, 1913, in Auburn, New York. Harriet Tubman was born into slavery but became the "Moses of her people" because she help free 300 slaves. I chose to paint her portrait because I was inspired by her bravery and courage to lead slaves to freedom along the Underground Railroad.
