When she was better, her mother and father figured out she was blind and deaf. Then, they tried to help her by taking her to a doctor, who told them to go to Alexander Graham Bell. He suggested they contact a school for the blind and get a tutor.
Helen Keller is famous for multiple reasons. For one, she was the first deaf and blind person to get a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1904. She got the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Lyndon Johnson in 1964. Helen also learned to read and write. Those are some reasons Helen is famous.
Helen impacted society greatly. She proved that the blind and deaf can live out their lives without being treated differently than others. She also learned to read and write. She even went to college. That is how Helen impacted society.
