Olympics Hero

Did you know that heroes are extraordinary people? Heroes are important because people look up to them. Heroes always want to have an affect on others. Heroes are able to help and affect people they don’t even know. Some qualities heroes have are loyalty, intelligence, and courage. Sonja Henie from the country of Norway is a hero because of her great figure skating.

Sonja Henie was born on April 8, 1912 in Olslo, Norway. She was a famous world figure skater. At the age of five, she started dancing. By the age of six, she had already started to figure skate. At the age of ten, she already won her first Norwegian national figure skating championship. She worked very hard and in 1924 she competed at the winter Olympic games in Chamonix, France. The best years of her life were 1928, 1932, and 1936 because she won gold medals. In 1941, Sonja was married twice to U.S. citizens and became a citizen herself. Sonja Henie died in 1969 of leukemia.

Sonja Henie had three qualities of a hero. They were confidence, determination, and a strong work ethic. Sonja once said, “The world never puts a price on you higher then the one you put on yourself.” Sonja had a lot of confidence because she got on ice in front of many of people and still won all the medals she did. She never got scared in front of anyone. Sonja was determined because she always wanted to win and do her best. She was also hard-working. She practiced a lot to get better and better. These qualities fit Sonja Henie and make her a hero.

In conclusion, heroes have a positive effect on people they don’t even know. People look up to heroes. Sonja Henie is a hero because she was a great women’s figure skater. She was an Olympic hero.
